ZEN Petroleum has been awarded the Best Performer in Mine Supplies and Support Services at the 11th Ghana Mining Industry Awards held on December 5, 2025, at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra.
The Ghana Chamber of Mines presented the award, recognizing companies for exceptional reliability, safety, and operational discipline in servicing large-scale mining operations. This win marks ZEN’s fifth in the category, alongside three first-runner-up positions in the 11 years since its inception, solidifying their consistent leadership in the mining supply sector.
ZEN has established a strong reputation for the dependable delivery of high-quality fuel and lubricants to often-remote mining sites. Their success is based on an integrated supply chain covering procurement, storage, transportation, and on-site support.
Notably, the company’s transport operations are exclusively staffed by women drivers – a unique model praised for enhancing safety and promoting gender inclusion.
“This award is a reflection of the dedication and discipline our teams apply every single day. Supplying the mines requires precision and consistency, and we have built systems that allow us to meet that responsibility without compromise. It is encouraging to see that effort acknowledged by the industry,” said William Tewiah, Managing Director of ZEN Petroleum.
Safety is a core value at ZEN, with over seven million accident-free hours recorded in their mining operations. They were also recognized earlier in 2025 with the Corporate Excellence Award from the National Safety Awards, organized by the Ghana National Fire Service and TD-TIMAWT.
Beyond mining, ZEN Petroleum is actively expanding its retail fuel network, currently operating 63 stations with plans to reach 80 by the end of 2026. The company is applying the same rigorous operational standards to its retail operations, prioritising fuel quality, accurate measurement, and transparent pricing.
Mercy Belbah Smith, Commercial Manager, explained, “What we have built in the mines – strong systems, safety leadership, and reliable supply –is exactly what we are bringing to our retail customers. Consumers deserve the same level of assurance, and our expansion reflects that commitment.”
ZEN’s achievement highlights the company’s continued dominance in the mining industry and its growing impact on Ghana’s retail fuel market. With the mining sector’s growth and increased competition in fuel retail, ZEN Petroleum seems well-positioned to lead and influence both sectors through its commitment to reliability, safety, and sustained growth.
