A 23-year-old woman has died after allegedly being poisoned by her boyfriend following a dispute over GH₵100 at Gomoa Buduburam in the Central Region, police sources have confirmed.
The deceased, identified as Theresa Darkoah, reportedly refused to refund money given to her by suspect Kofi Emma, popularly known as Blackee, leading to the fatal incident. According to a close friend who spoke to media, the suspect had previously expressed romantic interest that was not reciprocated.
The confrontation escalated when the suspect requested a visit last week. “Afia told him her standing fan wasn’t working and she couldn’t host anyone in the heat,” the friend stated. “She asked for GH₵100 to fix the fan first.”
Medical personnel at the local hospital confirmed Darkoah ingested a poisonous substance allegedly delivered as medicine by an unidentified person. She was rushed to the facility complaining of severe heart pains but died shortly after admission.
“He threatened to kill her if she didn’t return the money,” the friend revealed, adding she had personally attempted to mediate the dispute. Police have launched a manhunt for the suspect who remains at large.
Central Regional Police Command spokesperson DSP Irene Oppong urged residents to report any information about the suspect’s whereabouts, assuring the public that investigators are pursuing all leads.
