Techiman Police Arrest 25, Seize Drugs in Major Operation

The Techiman District Police Command has arrested 25 suspects in a major operation targeting criminal hideouts and illicit drug trade across the municipality.

The intelligence-led operation, which began at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, December 16, was led by Superintendent Charles Atuah. Police simultaneously raided identified areas in Abamu, Kenten, and Tako.

“A preemptive strike was necessary to disrupt the activities of these criminal elements and drug peddlers who pose a threat to the peace and security of Techiman,” Supt. Atuah stated. “This operation sends a clear message that the police will not relent in creating a safe environment for all residents.”

Thirteen suspects were apprehended in Abamu: Mubarack Alhassan, 26; Amoako Prosper, 28; Manarf Inusah, 19; Owusu Amos, 23; Suleman Mudasel, 18; Comfort Frimaa, 20; Samuel Nimoh, 22; Ridwan Mohammed, 21, and five others whose names have not yet been released.

In Kenten, police arrested six individuals: Amado Charles, 20; Kofi Alex, 20; Zongo Umar, 35; Sharif Yahaya, 18; Nurideen Abu, 25; and Solomon Sheganyi, 18.

The final phase of the operation in Tako resulted in the arrest of six more: Edmund Gyimah, 30; Nana Agyemang Eugen, 24; Boahen Stephen, 22; Frimpong James, 30; Dabou Naa Michael, 23; and Tiwaa Hawa, 37.

During the raids, police recovered nineteen wrappers of a substance suspected to be cocaine and a quantity of dried leaves believed to be Indian hemp. All seized items are being sent for forensic analysis and will be used as evidence in court.

All 25 suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations and are expected to be arraigned before the court in the coming days.

The Techiman Police Command has expressed gratitude to residents for their cooperation and urged continued support in providing information about criminal activities. “Community partnership is vital in our fight against crime,” Supt. Atuah added.

This operation highlights the police’s renewed commitment to tackling crime and drug abuse in the region.
