Canada-based golfer Rickie Hurtubiase has continued his family’s winning streak, claiming the championship trophy at the Gridco Centre of the World Golf Club Championship held in Tema.
Hurtubiase finished with a total score of 229 over three days of competitive play, carding rounds of 77, 75, and 77. This performance was enough to secure victory over a field of experienced golfers, including Jibril Kassim, Desmond Abban, and Frank Torgah, who finished with 233, 234, and 234 respectively.
Recognizing the challenge posed by the course, Hurtubiase maintained his composure, particularly on the final day, to clinch the win. “I’m excited to secure the championship,” Hurtubiase said, speaking to the media after the prize presentation with his parents present. “My frequent training sessions really paid off.”
The tournament, sponsored by Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) with support from Bel Aqua, Nester Home, Royal Senchi, Zed Multimedia, and The Finder, featured three categories: Professionals, Scratch, and Amateurs, attracting over one hundred golfers from across the country.
