President Mahama Emphasizes Faith and Integrity at Assemblies of God Men’s Ministry Conference

President John Dramani Mahama attended the Men’s Ministry Fellowship of the Assemblies of God Church at the Gomoa Pentecost Convention Centre on Saturday, delivering a powerful address on the enduring significance of faith, character, and integrity in public and private life.

Speaking to a gathered congregation, the former President stressed that genuine faith transcends material wealth, political status, or societal titles. “Being President does not prove that I am a man of faith. It is my character and my works that will prove that I am a man of faith,” he declared, underscoring his belief that true spirituality is reflected in daily conduct and ethical stewardship.

Mahama urged citizens to embody their faith in tangible ways—how they treat their spouses, raise their children, manage public resources, speak about others, and serve their communities. He highlighted integrity and accountability as indispensable markers of authentic belief, particularly for those entrusted with leadership responsibilities.

The Gomoa Pentecost Convention Centre, a prominent venue for religious and national gatherings in Ghana’s Central Region, hosted the event, which brought together men from various Assemblies of God congregations nationwide. The Assemblies of God, a global Pentecostal fellowship with a substantial following in Ghana, emphasizes vibrant worship, spiritual growth, and community engagement through its various ministries. The Men’s Ministry fellowship, a cornerstone of the denomination’s discipleship efforts, focuses on nurturing spiritual growth, moral leadership, and active citizenship among men, encouraging them to be role models in their families, workplaces, and churches.

Drawing from his own journey, the former President linked personal integrity to effective governance, suggesting that leaders who prioritize honesty and accountability foster greater public trust and national progress. His remarks resonated with the conference’s theme of cultivating faith-driven leadership in a rapidly changing societal landscape.

While addressing the congregation, Mahama also reflected on the broader role of faith communities in nation-building, noting that places of worship serve not only as spiritual sanctuaries but also as incubators for ethical leadership and social cohesion. He called on religious institutions to continue nurturing values that promote unity, justice, and compassion across Ghana’s diverse communities.

The event underscored a recurring theme in Mahama’s public discourse: the inseparable link between ethical leadership and sustainable development. Earlier this year, he assured contractors involved in the government’s Big Push infrastructure initiative of timely payments upon project completion ([Mahama assures Big Push contractors of prompt payment after project completion](/mahama-assures-big-push-contractors-of-prompt-payment-after-project-completion)), reinforcing his commitment to financial accountability in public works—a principle he echoed in his address to the Men’s Ministry.

As the conference concluded, attendees expressed renewed commitment to translating their faith into actionable service, both within their families and in the wider society. The gathering served as a reminder that true leadership, rooted in faith and integrity, remains a vital force for positive change in Ghana and beyond.
