Police end violent youth clash in Mankessim, Ekumfi

Local News

The Central Regional Police Command has restored calm in Mankessim following a violent clash between some youth of Ekumfi Eyisam and Mankessim at the Shell fuel station, which left one person injured.

According to a police statement, the incident occurred on Friday, January 3, 2026, at about 7:20 pm, when the police received a distress call reporting a fight involving a group of young men at the Shell fuel station.

The Mankessim night patrol team was immediately dispatched to the scene upon receipt of the information. However, on arrival, the youth involved in the disturbance fled the area after pelting stones at each other upon sighting the police.

The Police noted that information gathered at the scene revealed that the youth of Eyisam were attending a wedding at Mankessim and had information that one of them was attacked and beaten up at Accra lorry station by some youth of Mankessim.

The Eyisam youth, upon hearing this, decided to come to the Accra lorry station and look for the one who attacked their brother. This led to the clash between the two groups.

The injured victim, identified as Wisdom, was rushed to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital (CCTH), where he is responding to treatment.

Police say calm has since been restored, and the area was monitored throughout the night to prevent any further disturbances.

The Central Regional Police Command has indicated that investigations are ongoing.
