NPP Moves to Expel Frimpong-Boateng Over Fake Party Remarks

Politics

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has initiated processes to expel former Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, over comments he made describing the party as fake.

In a statement, the NPP said it had taken notice of remarks made by Prof Frimpong-Boateng on Channel One TV, where he stated he no longer considers himself a member of the party and made disparaging remarks about the NPP.

According to the party, Prof Frimpong-Boateng alleged that the 2023 presidential primary was rigged in favour of former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, which the party firmly denies.

The NPP described Prof Frimpong-Boateng’s conduct as highly reprehensible and inimical to the party’s values, unity, and integrity, adding that his comments undermined internal cohesion and discipline.

Consequently, the party has invoked its Constitution to commence the necessary processes to expel him, strictly in accordance with due process.
