Ghana’s industrialisation drive has received a major boost with the opening of Metrohm Central Africa, a new facility focused on high-precision chemical analysis and technical support.

The centre is expected to significantly improve the country’s ability to conduct analytical testing, bolstering quality assurance in vital sectors like pharmaceuticals and food production.

Director-General of the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA), Prof George Adjei, lauded the inauguration as a timely and crucial step in realising the government’s ambitious industrial transformation agenda. He stated that the successful development of Ghana’s industries requires robust collaboration with the private sector and access to advanced scientific and technological infrastructure.

“Improving Ghana’s analytical space is essential to safeguarding public health, protecting consumers, and ensuring our local industries can compete and meet international standards,” Prof Adjei emphasised.

He added, “Ghana stands at an inflection point. Our government’s industrialisation agenda requires robust and quality infrastructure, and our agricultural exports need credible testing to access other markets.”

Metrohm Central Africa is an extension of the global Metrohm Group, renowned for its manufacture of high-precision instruments for chemical analysis. According to the company, choosing Ghana as a regional hub demonstrates a long-term commitment to supporting local industry with cutting-edge technology.

The new facility will offer hands-on training, dedicated technical support, and applications development services, ensuring customers maximize the potential of their analytical instruments and optimise processes.

Foster Mensah, General Manager of Metrohm Central Africa, assured industry stakeholders of consistent access to reliable and precise solutions specifically tailored to their requirements. He believes the hub will minimise downtime, increase efficiency, and foster innovation within various sectors.

Swiss Ambassador to Ghana, Benin, and Togo, Simone Giger, also addressed the inauguration, stating that Metrohm’s expansion to Ghana reaffirms the nation’s growing appeal as a prime destination for investment and technological progress.

“Ghana’s stable business environment and evolving scientific ecosystem have proven to be very attractive for Swiss companies,” she highlighted.

The establishment of Metrohm Central Africa is anticipated to play a key role in strengthening Ghana’s overall quality infrastructure system.
