Nyindam Denies Cheating Allegations Amid Kpandai Poll Re-run

Matthew Nyindam, the candidate at the heart of the Kpandai election challenge, has expressed confidence ahead of the Electoral Commission’s (EC) preparations for a court-ordered re-run of the 2024 Parliamentary Elections.

Speaking on the AM Show, Mr. Nyindam stated he remains calm because he and his team did not engage in any wrongdoing during the disputed election.

“I am so fine because I am not troubled. We have not cheated in this particular election,” he said.

However, Mr. Nyindam accused the government of exerting undue influence on national processes, alleging that state actors often disregard fairness. “What I have realised is that there is a government that is so strong and whatever they want to do, they will want to do it. They don’t care whether you are right or you are wrong,” he explained, adding that he feels like a small player in a larger political game.

His comments follow a formal notification from the Parliamentary Service to the EC, declaring a vacancy in the Kpandai Constituency. This notification, dated December 4, 2025, and signed by Clerk to Parliament, Mr. Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, is in compliance with the constitutional requirements for initiating the administrative procedures for a fresh election.

The letter was addressed to the EC Chairperson, Mrs. Jean Mensa, and is based on Article 112(5) of the 1992 Constitution.

The upcoming re-run is anticipated to finally determine who will represent the people of Kpandai in Parliament, bringing an end to months of legal battles and heightened political tension.
