The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Special Operations Team has arrested seven individuals in Tamale, Northern Region, for allegedly peddling illicit substances.

The operation, conducted in collaboration with the Gulkpegu Chief Task Force, is part of a broader strategy to curb crime during the festive season and dismantle the networks of those involved.

Gladys Lariba, a resident of Taha, is among those apprehended. She is accused of selling Indian hemp-laced toffees and dried leaves. Police also arrested Joseph Christian, Musah Stephen, and Fatau Issahaku, who were found in possession of Tramadol capsules and suspected Indian hemp.

Acting on a tip-off from the Gulkpegu Chief Task Force, officers also arrested Amina Isahaku and her husband, Muhammed Sumaila, with several boxes of Tramadol capsules.

Two suspects, identified as Hidir and Hikima Yahaya, are currently at large, and police are intensifying efforts to locate and arrest them.

“This operation showcases our team’s commitment, professionalism, and operational effectiveness,” said ASP Bawah Abdul Jalil, the leader of the operation. “We are working tirelessly to keep Tamale safe and secure.”

ASP Abdul Jalil further emphasized the importance of community collaboration and inter-agency cooperation in the ongoing fight against crime in the region.
