Cape Coast witnessed a historic moment as the 2025 Ghana Blind Sports Association (GBSA) Goalball National Championships achieved full national representation, with plans to include all 16 regions of Ghana for the first time.
Despite the unfortunate absence of the Oti Region, the championship showcased an unprecedented level of participation from across the country, marking a significant leap forward for the development of Goalball in Ghana.
The four-day competition, held from December 4–7 at the Indoor Sports Complex of the University of Cape Coast, brought together the nation’s top Goalball athletes in a thrilling display of skill and competition.
In the Men’s category, the Eastern Region emerged victorious, defeating the Upper East Region to claim the 2025 National Championship title. John Arthur of the Eastern Region was rightfully recognized as the tournament’s Best Male Player.
The Women’s Championship saw the Volta Region triumph over Ashanti Region, securing their win and earning Peace Awadzi the prestigious title of Best Female Player.
The resounding success of the championship was greatly supported by the generous contributions of Goldbod Ghana, the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority, Mannye and Mantse Clothing, the Nkrabea Cultural Troupe, and the National Council on Persons with Disability (NCPD).
