The Ghana Health Service has opened recruitment for the 36th batch of Medical Officers and Dentists who have completed their housemanship and been duly verified by the Medical and Dental Council.
The application process commenced on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. through the Ministry’s official online recruitment portal, with a deadline set for Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. Vacancies are available across key public health agencies, including the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Christian Health Association of Ghana (CHAG), Ahmadiyya Health Services, and the Mental Health Authority.
This year’s recruitment drive builds on recent initiatives aimed at strengthening the health workforce, such as the TTAG urges government’s urgent action on recruitment and postings and the Health Ministry announces mop-up exercise for validation and posting of health professionals. Additionally, the Health Ministry opens admissions for 2026/2027 public health training institutions complements these efforts by ensuring a steady pipeline of qualified personnel.
The Ministry emphasized that the application process remains free of charge, warning prospective applicants to avoid individuals or groups offering to secure placements for a fee. In a notable provision, Medical and Dental Officers from the 34th and 35th batches who previously applied but were not posted may also participate in the current exercise, though their applications will be limited to their original regions if vacancies exist.
According to the Ministry, the recruitment exercise is part of the government’s annual posting and deployment process for newly qualified medical professionals into the public health system. Eligible applicants are required to submit their applications through the official online portal and select their preferred districts for posting.
Health authorities have repeatedly highlighted the need to bolster the health workforce to meet growing demand for services, particularly in underserved areas. By streamlining the recruitment process and ensuring transparency, the Ministry aims to attract and retain skilled professionals capable of delivering quality healthcare across the nation.
As Ghana continues to pursue universal health coverage, initiatives like this recruitment drive play a vital role in strengthening the healthcare system’s capacity to respond to both existing and emerging health challenges.
