The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana, Rt. Rev. Dr. Lt. Col. Bliss Divine Agbeko (Rtd), has urged Ghanaians to adopt cleanliness as a moral and spiritual obligation, beyond just an environmental responsibility.

In his 2026 New Year message, the Moderator emphasized the church’s theme, “Cleanliness is next to Godliness. Keep Clean!”, goes beyond maintaining tidy surroundings and encompasses purity of character, integrity of heart, and discipline of mind and attitude.

He explained that holistic cleanliness involves the spirit, soul, and body, and serves as the foundation for healthy living and a society that attracts God’s presence and blessings.

Rt. Rev. Dr. Agbeko stressed that a clean nation is built not only through sanitation efforts but through clean relationships, ethical conduct, and peaceful coexistence.

The EP Church Moderator also prayed for Ghana’s leadership and called for collective responsibility in keeping the country clean, healthy, and strong throughout 2026.
