Minister Jinapor Warns Underperforming Energy Agency Heads

Accra – Dr John Abdulai Jinapor, the Minister for Energy and Green Transition, has warned heads of agencies and senior managers in the energy sector that underperformance will not be tolerated and could lead to their removal from office.

The Minister issued the stern caution during the Ministry’s performance review retreat, emphasizing that President John Dramani Mahama expects tangible results from those in leadership positions within the public sector.

“Underperformance will not be tolerated. Heads of agencies and senior management who fail to meet agreed targets or deliver key projects will be removed,” Dr Jinapor stated firmly.

He underscored that holding public office is a privilege demanding discipline, professionalism, and accountability, urging all agency leaders to approach the retreat with the seriousness it deserves.

“This is not a threat; it is a call to seriousness, discipline, and results-oriented leadership,” the Minister emphasised.

Dr Jinapor challenged the agencies to shift their focus from mere planning to effective execution in 2026, advocating for realistic and measurable strategies that align with national priorities.

“We must move from plans to execution, from excuses to solutions, and from fragmented efforts to unified action,” he stated, calling for a more coordinated approach to energy sector development.
