Controller Pays Overdue Education Allowances with December Salaries

Politics

The Controller and Accountant-General’s Department (CAGD) has confirmed the full payment of delayed allowances for workers in the education sector.

The CAGD had earlier attributed the delay to a technical challenge during the November 2025 payroll processing. To ensure uninterrupted salary payments for all government employees, the processing of these specific allowances was temporarily halted.

While the Department initially announced that the outstanding allowances would be disbursed with December 2025 salaries on December 18, 2025, the CAGD clarified that the payments were made earlier – on December 16, 2025 – alongside the December salaries.

“We regret any inconvenience this delay may have caused,” a statement from the CAGD read. The Department reiterated its dedication to enhancing payroll systems to prevent similar issues in the future.

The CAGD also expressed gratitude to the affected education workers for their patience and understanding throughout the period of the delay. They assured stakeholders that measures are being taken to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
