Ghana’s economic performance in 2025 came under the microscope today on Joy Business, as leading figures in the financial and diplomatic sectors dissected the year’s key challenges and successes.

The panel discussion, hosted by Wiston Amoah, Head of Joy Business, featured Joe Jackson, Chief Executive Officer of Dalex Finance; David Ofosu-Dorte, Senior Partner at AB and David, Africa; and Professor Peter Quartey, Director of the Legon Centre for International Affairs and Diplomacy.

The experts examined the factors that drove Ghana’s economic trajectory, acknowledging both gains made and setbacks encountered throughout the year. Discussions centred around navigating the path towards sustained economic freedom, a crucial goal for the nation’s future prosperity.

“We’ve seen moments of resilience, but also significant headwinds,” stated Joe Jackson, CEO of Dalex Finance. “The key is to build a more diversified and robust economy that is less susceptible to external shocks.”

David Ofosu-Dorte of AB and David, Africa, emphasized the importance of a conducive legal and regulatory environment. “Attracting investment requires clarity and consistency in our laws,” he explained. “Businesses need confidence that the rules of the game won’t change arbitrarily.”

Professor Peter Quartey highlighted the role of international diplomacy in securing favourable economic partnerships for Ghana. “Our engagement with international bodies and other nations is vital for accessing resources and promoting trade,” he said. “Strategic diplomacy can unlock significant opportunities for growth.”

The discussion provided valuable insights into the economic landscape of 2025 and offered perspectives on how Ghana can overcome its challenges and build a more prosperous future. Viewers can watch the full conversation on JoyNews TV.
