Dosh Health Insurance has partnered with MobileMoney LTD (MoMo from MTN) to launch a first-of-its-kind digital health insurance solution accessible directly through the MoMo App.
The groundbreaking launch, held on December 16, 2025, in Accra, aims to significantly broaden access to healthcare financing by integrating health insurance with Ghana’s leading digital financial platform.
Speaking on behalf of the Minister of Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, Director of Research at the Ministry of Health, Simpson Addo, lauded the initiative as a prime example of how innovation and private sector collaboration can bolster the government’s health objectives.
“Expanding health insurance coverage remains central to our drive toward Universal Health Coverage,” Addo stated. “By leveraging digital platforms that millions of Ghanaians already use daily, initiatives such as this remove long-standing barriers and bring financial protection closer to the people who need it most.”
He emphasized that while the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) remains vital, complementary private solutions are crucial for bridging coverage gaps, especially among informal workers and underserved communities.
Frank Augustine Dagbui, CEO of DOSH Health Insurance, explained that the launch directly addresses the challenges Ghanaians face in accessing healthcare.
“Too many people delay care or face financial strain simply because health insurance feels complicated or out of reach,” Dagbui said. “DOSH Health Insurance was created to change that, to make health protection simple, accessible, affordable and available through tools people already trust.”
According to Mr. Dagbui, integrating DOSH into the MoMo App streamlines the process by eliminating paperwork and lengthy processing times, making insurance accessible with just a mobile phone.
Sylvia Otuo Acheampong, Chief Products & Services Officer for MobileMoney LTD, highlighted that the partnership underscores MoMo’s commitment to utilizing digital technology for practical solutions that enhance everyday life.
“This collaboration aligns strongly with our platform business strategy and our purpose of driving financial inclusion for every Ghanaian,” she said. “We are continuously expanding the MoMo ecosystem beyond payments into areas that matter most in people’s lives, including savings, credit, insurance, and now, accessible healthcare.”
Sylvia further added, “DOSH brings innovation and deep insurance expertise, and MobileMoney LTD brings reach, trust, and digital capability. Together, we are creating real value for customers and contributing to a healthier, more financially resilient Ghana.”
The DOSH-MoMo partnership marks a new era in private health insurance delivery in Ghana, combining healthcare expertise with digital innovation to support broader healthcare financing and universal health coverage goals. The platform allows seamless subscription, coverage management, and service access, with DOSH offering tailored packages for individuals, families, and businesses.
