A Dodge Journey saloon car was engulfed in flames at Shiashie in Accra early on Friday, December 12, resulting in its complete destruction.
The Ghana National Fire Service reported receiving the distress call at 8:17 am. A crew from the Legon Fire Station, led by ADO I Adjei, responded swiftly but faced challenges due to heavy traffic, arriving at the scene at 08:33 hours.
Firefighters successfully extinguished the blaze by 08:47 hours, however, the vehicle was a write-off. The extent of the damage confirmed the car was beyond repair.
The Service is using this incident to reiterate the importance of portable fire extinguishers in vehicles. “Drivers and vehicle owners should ensure they have a functional portable fire extinguisher in their cars,” the Ghana National Fire Service advised, “as this could help prevent total losses in similar situations.”
Thankfully, no injuries were reported during the incident. Investigations are currently underway to determine the cause of the fire.
