Complete Farmer Launches CF Grower and CF Buyer Platforms to Transform Digital Agriculture in Ghana

Lifestyle

Ghanaian agritech company Complete Farmer has unveiled two new digital platforms—CF Grower and CF Buyer—aimed at strengthening the connection between farmers and buyers through technology, a move the company says will deepen digital agriculture across the country.

The platforms, launched in Accra on June 11, 2026, represent the latest effort by the eight-year-old company to modernise Ghana’s agricultural value chain by giving farmers better production tools and buyers more transparent sourcing options.

“My dad was a farmer, my grandfather was a farmer, and I felt the need to change the narrative of farmers,” said Desmond Koney, Chief Executive Officer of Complete Farmer. “We are building a bridge between farmers and buyers, making transactions smoother. Farmers need support to grow and to sell.”

What the Platforms Offer

CF Grower, available on both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, is designed as a farmer’s digital companion throughout the production journey. It offers land mapping, soil and crop recommendations, crop-specific agronomic guidance, and decision-support tools from the planning stage through to harvest.

CF Buyer, accessible via the company’s website, is tailored for commodity buyers seeking reliable sourcing relationships. The platform provides direct connections between buyers and farmers, along with transparent supply chain tracking.

One of the platform’s standout features is its AI-powered crop scanning capability. Farmers can photograph their crops using their phones, and the app identifies nutrient deficiencies, offering actionable recommendations. The system also includes offline functionality, allowing data to be collected in areas with limited internet connectivity and synchronised later through field agents.

Industry Context

The launch reflects a broader trend of digital innovation in Ghana’s agricultural sector. The Ministry of Food and Agriculture has been rolling out its own technology-driven initiatives, including the distribution of drones and fertiliser under the Feed Ghana programme, signalling growing government appetite for tech-enabled farming solutions.

Emmanuel Owusu, Programmes Coordinator at the Presidential Investment and Agricultural Advisory (PIAA), speaking on behalf of Dr Peter Boamah Otokunor, noted that Ghana’s growing use of technology creates a strong opportunity for digital agriculture. He expressed optimism that farmers and agribusiness professionals would embrace platforms that improve productivity and market access.

Early users have reported positive experiences. One farmer, in a video testimonial, described the platform as “refreshing,” noting that it “reduces the stress of moving from one market to another in search of agro-inputs and gives clear steps from planning through contract completion.”

Looking Ahead

For Complete Farmer, the dual-platform launch marks a significant evolution from its earlier work connecting Ghanaian farmers to global markets through trade centres in communities like Juapong and Tagadzi. The company’s ambitions now extend well beyond physical infrastructure into the digital realm, where scale and efficiency can be achieved at a fraction of the cost.

Ghana’s agriculture sector employs a large share of the national workforce, yet farmers continue to face persistent challenges around market access, input sourcing, and post-harvest losses. Platforms like CF Grower and CF Buyer address these pain points directly, offering a digital alternative to the informal networks that have long dominated the sector.
