Spokesperson for the Bawumia Campaign, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has strongly criticized the current National Democratic Congress (NDC) government, claiming its policies are taking Ghana backwards despite promises of change.
Aboagye stated the NDC pledged a “reset” for the nation but is instead delivering a “reverse.” He made these remarks during an appearance on JoyNews’ AM Show on Friday, December 12.
“NDC hasn’t reset the country. NDC is reversing the country, that is the truth, and there is a big difference. They promised the Ghanaian people a reset and they are delivering a reverse. That is what is happening,” he emphasized, referencing the prevailing economic challenges.
The Bawumia Campaign spokesperson further took issue with inconsistencies within the government’s economic strategies. “Is it not strange that we are in a country where inflation has dropped from a whopping 23% to 6% and yet no single price of a good has increased by less than 10%? Is it not strange to you that when you go up Abossey Okai or Tiptoe Lane, every price has gone up, even though the dollar has reduced from ¢14 to ¢10?” he questioned.
Mr. Aboagye contends that this contradictory approach is not translating into tangible improvements in the lives of ordinary Ghanaians. “So you see, the government is running a contradictory economic policy system that has no impact in our pocket but only on paper,” he explained, pointing to a perceived disconnect between official statistics and the economic reality experienced by citizens.
He urged the NDC administration to prioritize practical economic solutions that benefit Ghanaians directly. “Effective policy should benefit the people, not merely appear successful on official reports,” Aboagye concluded.
