Ayalolo Adds Rush Hour Trips to Relieve Congestion

Management of the Ayalolo Bus Operations has announced longer operating hours in a bid to reduce the number of passengers left stranded during rush periods across Accra.

The decision, according to the company, follows growing commuter demand, particularly during morning and evening peak hours, when congestion and limited transport options often create significant delays.

Speaking on Channel One TV on Friday, January 16, the Public Relations Officer of Ayalolo, Justice K. Safo, said buses are now remaining in service well beyond their previous closing times to accommodate more passengers.

“Our buses no longer shut down at the usual time. You can still see them operating after 9 p.m., 10 p.m., and in some cases close to 11 p.m. This extension is meant to absorb the large number of commuters who would otherwise be left stranded,” he explained.

Mr Safo further disclosed that 115 buses out of the fleet of 245 are currently in active service. These have been strategically deployed along five key transport corridors, Adenta, Amasaman, Pokuase, Kasoa, and Tema–Ashaiman, to improve coverage and reliability.

The move forms part of ongoing efforts by Ayalolo to enhance public transport efficiency and support commuters amid increasing urban travel demands.
