Two Suspects Arrested After Coordinated Robberies in Nkasiem

Local News

The Ahafo Regional Police Command arrested two suspects on December 2 in Nkasiem, linking them to a coordinated robbery that targeted a gold buying firm, a cocoa buying firm and the Asutifi Rural Bank.

The heavily‑armed men, armed with pump‑action guns, seized two police rifles during the raid and opened fire on a civilian, wounding him in the thigh. Police reports say the victim was rushed to St Elizabeth Hospital in Hwidiem, Ahafo, where he received treatment and was later discharged.

According to a statement from the Ahafo Regional Police, the arrests followed a targeted intelligence‑led operation that enabled officers to detain two members of the syndicate. A manhunt has been launched for the remaining suspects, who remain at large.

Inspector General of Police Christian Tetteh Yohuno has deployed a special anti‑robbery team from the National Police Headquarters in Accra to reinforce regional efforts. “We will leave no stone unturned,” IGP Yohuno said, stressing the seriousness of the case.

Inspector Mensa Kwarteng, spokesperson for the Ahafo Regional Police, added, “The operation was based on actionable intelligence, and we are committed to dismantling this criminal network.” He urged residents to remain calm, cooperate with investigations, and assured that all members of the syndicate will be brought to justice.
