Activa International Insurance Ghana has donated a state-of-the-art eight-seater Information Communication Technology (ICT) laboratory to the Korle Gonno Community Library in Accra.
The donation, made through the Activa Group Foundation, forms part of the company’s corporate social responsibility aimed at promoting education and empowering the next generation of Ghanaians.
The new ICT lab is equipped with modern computers pre-loaded with Ghana Education Service (GES) approved educational materials for Basic and Junior High School students, covering subjects like Science, Mathematics, and English. It is designed to enhance the learning experience and provide children in the community with vital ICT skills.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Managing Director of Activa International Insurance Ghana, Benjamin Yamoah, emphasized the transformative power of education. “Education remains the most powerful tool for breaking the cycle of poverty and driving sustainable growth,” he stated.
According to Mr. Yamoah, the Foundation’s initiative is geared towards preparing young learners for future careers in technology, science, and innovation by equipping them with digital literacy and STEM competencies.
The library’s management expressed profound gratitude for the donation, noting that the ICT laboratory will serve not only the Nanka Bruce Cluster of Schools but also the broader Korle Gonno community.
With over 5,600 school-going children in the area, the facility is expected to significantly bridge the digital divide and cultivate a stronger learning culture.
Activa Foundation has also undertaken other projects this year, including providing access to portable water and supporting community development initiatives in the Central Region.
Activa International Insurance Ghana is a leading General Business Insurance company and a subsidiary of Activa Group. The Activa Group Foundation was established to maximize the impact of the Group’s CSR efforts on selected communities.
