Local News

The Chief of Kyebi Zongo, Sarki Sanusi Mohammed, has vowed to transform the Kyebi Zongo into a model community for environmental stewardship, educational excellence, and discipline.

According to Sarki Sanusi Mohammed, the era of poor sanitary conditions, high school dropout rates, and deviant behaviors in Zongo communities will soon be a thing of the past.

Sarki Sanusi Mohammed made these remarks during his outdooring ceremony as the Kyebi Zongo Chief, where he emphasized his commitment to making the Kyebi Zongo a model for all other Zongos in the country.

“I have gotten to this stage in life because I dedicated myself to learning. I know the relevance of education in society and I shall do everything possible within my means to ensure that the average Zongo child has an appreciable education before he or she enters into marriage,” Sarki Sanusi Mohammed said.

He stressed that the practice of forcing young ladies into marriage at the expense of their education is over, adding that Zongo girls will only marry when they have acquired a degree or a trade.

Sarki Sanusi Mohammed also touched on sanitation, noting that plans are underway to ensure a cleaner Zongo community. He said the days of indiscriminate dumping of refuse, littering, and filth in Zongo communities are over.

According to him, he is working with the Abuakwa South District Assembly to clear refuse dumps within the Zongo communities and promote sustainable waste disposal methods.

Sarki Sanusi Mohammed further indicated that he will collaborate with the regional police command to rid the Zongo community of drug peddlers and ensure total discipline, making Kyebi Zongo a model for other Zongos.

The Chief of Apapam and Amantuamiensahene, Osabarima Okogyeaman Apagya Fori, commended Sarki Sanusi Mohammed for his dedication to education and advised him to bridge the gaps within the Zongo community.

Osabarima Okogyeaman Apagya Fori urged Sarki Sanusi Mohammed to prioritize education and discipline in the Zongo community, emphasizing the need to end the stigma of violence associated with Zongo communities during his tenure as Zongo chief.
