Jonina and Ampem Darkoa Ladies Drop First WPL Matches

Leaders of the Southern Zone, Jonina Ladies, and Ampem Darkoa Ladies suffered their first defeats of the 2025/26 Ghana Women’s Premier League over the weekend.

Jonina Ladies had been on a seven-game unbeaten run since the start of the season but were handed their first loss by Army Ladies on Sunday.

Esther Asamoah Yiadom scored the only goal of the game to give the home side the lead.

In other games, Soccer Intellectuals recorded a narrow win over Halifax Queens on Saturday, while defending champions Police Ladies drew 0-0 with Hasaacas Ladies.

Epiphany Warriors shared the spoils with LadyStrikers, and Dreams Ladies came from behind to beat Ampem Darkoa Ladies in the Northern Zone.

FC Savannah and Northern Ladies drew 0-0, Prisons Ladies were defeated 1-4 by Ashtown Ladies, and Tamale Super Ladies claimed a 1-0 victory over Northern City.

There is just one more round of games until the first half of the season comes to an end.
