The Jospong Group of Companies has partnered with Ghanaian Scholars in the Diaspora to translate academic excellence into practical solutions for national development. The two entities signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Accra on Friday, January 2, 2026, bringing together postgraduate scholars from seven countries.

Dr Joseph Siaw Agyepong, Executive Chairman of Jospong Group, described the initiative as a national project rather than corporate agenda. “This is not just for Jospong; this is for Ghana,” he stated, emphasizing the need to convert research into development solutions.

Under the agreement, specialized knowledge from Ghanaian master’s and PhD students will be applied across Jospong’s sanitation, manufacturing, ICT and agribusiness ventures. Dr Agyepong announced plans for a dedicated coordination office that will operate independently with full Group sponsorship.

The Executive Chairman revealed intentions to expand the platform by engaging major Ghanaian businesses including Ibrahim Mahama’s enterprises, Kasapreko and Despite Group. He framed the partnership as a potential blueprint for nationwide diaspora knowledge transfer.

GSD Secretary Peter Worlasi Adanu welcomed the collaboration as critical for aligning academic work with development priorities. “We pledge our full commitment to achieving this MoU’s objectives for Ghana’s transformation,” he stated, while urging government support for maximum impact.

Jospong’s COO for Environmental Services, Mrs Florence Larbi, traced the Group’s evolution from a 1995 printing press to a 60-company conglomerate. She said the partnership drew inspiration from Japan’s academic-industry training models witnessed by Dr Agyepong.

Mrs Larbi challenged scholars to focus on implementable outcomes: “Every research project should solve problems or develop scalable products.” The collaboration emerges as Ghana intensifies efforts to harness diaspora expertise for industrialization and job creation targets.
