Gideon Boako Criticizes Bryan Acheampong Over Bawumia Claim

Politics

Dr. Gideon Boako, Member of Parliament for Tano North, has vehemently criticised Bryan Acheampong, labelling a claim regarding the New Patriotic Party (NPP) leadership contest as a “blatant falsehood” and “misleading”.

According to Dr. Boako, Mr. Acheampong’s assertion that he advised Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to refrain from contesting the party’s primaries is entirely untrue. He stated unequivocally that no such conversation ever occurred between the two men.

“This is a fabrication, pure and simple,” Dr. Boako insisted. He questioned the motivation behind the alleged falsehood, expressing bewilderment as to why anyone would think lies could serve their political ambitions. “It beats imagination why someone would resort to such tactics,” he added.

The Tano North MP warned that the dissemination of misinformation erodes trust, not only within the NPP but also among the Ghanaian populace. He stressed the importance of honesty and responsibility in political discourse, particularly when public confidence is paramount.

“Leadership contests should be built on truth, sound ideas, and mutual respect, not on deliberate attempts to deceive,” Dr. Boako emphasised. He urged all political actors to conduct themselves with integrity and transparency.

Dr. Boako’s strong rebuke comes as the NPP prepares for its internal elections, a process that has already seen some heated exchanges. He believes maintaining a truthful and respectful environment is crucial for the party’s future.
