Yango Group's Impact Report: $4B Earned by Partners, STEM Investments Grow

Global technology company, Yango Group, has released its first-ever Impact Report, detailing its contributions to social, economic, and environmental progress across over 30 countries, including Ghana.

The report, launched this week, showcases Yango’s transformation from a ride-hailing service in 2018 to a comprehensive digital ecosystem utilized by millions. It highlights how the company’s technology fosters local entrepreneurship, creates income-generating opportunities for drivers and couriers, and cultivates a skilled workforce for the future.

“This inaugural report marks an important milestone for Yango Group,” stated Daniil Shuleyko, CEO of Yango Group. “As we expand globally, we are dedicated to not only scaling our technology but also maximizing our positive impact on communities, local economies, and future generations. Our aim is to collaboratively build the digital cities and opportunities of tomorrow with the nations we serve.”

The report reveals that Yango partner drivers and couriers earned over USD 4 billion in 2024. Currently, the Yango network comprises 6,000 businesses, 2.1 million registered drivers, and 600,000 couriers. Notably, 40% of users in the delivery sector are SMEs leveraging Yango’s platform to reach customers and grow their businesses.

Yango is also actively involved in strengthening local economies through technology. In Côte d’Ivoire, the company is piloting electric mobility projects to reduce emissions and modernize transportation. Services like Yango Buy & Sell are empowering small merchants with increased visibility and customer trust, while Yango Food Delivery expands access to restaurants and essential goods, stimulating economic activity.

A significant portion of the report focuses on Yango’s investment in STEM education. The Yango Fellowship, initially launched in Zambia, now extends to Ghana, alongside Côte d’Ivoire, Mozambique, Ethiopia, and Senegal, providing financial aid, mentorship, and workshops to promising STEM students. Over 800 participants across six African countries have benefited from Yango-sponsored mobility and smart-city hackathons, gaining practical skills in data science and machine learning. Furthermore, more than 2,000 learners in Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, and Zambia have completed free SQL data analysis courses, enhancing their digital literacy.

Beyond STEM, Yango Group is committed to community investment, supporting initiatives like digital inclusion programs for visually impaired students in Angola, youth football academies in Côte d’Ivoire and Zambia, and public art projects in the Democratic Republic of Congo. These efforts demonstrate a belief in the importance of social inclusion alongside technological advancement.

In Ghana, Yango has amplified its commitment to youth development and women’s empowerment through initiatives like the Yango Digital Mobility Awards and Partner Conferences. Activities marking International Women’s Day, Mother’s Day, and International Youth Day provided essential products, capacity building, and mentorship opportunities. The company also hosted the 2nd Urban Mobility Hackathon at the University of Ghana, fostering innovation in AI and data-driven solutions.

Yango currently provides Ghanaians with ride-hailing, package, and cargo delivery services, designed for convenience, affordability, and safety, while simultaneously creating earning opportunities for its partners.
