Atta-Akyea Says Ken Agyapong Not Fit for President

Former Abuakwa South Member of Parliament, Samuel Atta-Akyea, has expressed reservations about the presidential suitability of Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, suggesting the Assin Central MP is more adept at business than leading the nation.

Mr. Atta-Akyea stated that despite Mr. Agyapong’s increasing visibility within the New Patriotic Party (NPP), he lacks the qualities necessary for the presidency.

Speaking on UTV on Wednesday, December 17, the former MP was direct in his assessment, declaring he does not consider Mr. Agyapong “presidential material.”

He argued that Mr. Agyapong’s public persona is largely built on claims of business success, rather than demonstrable experience in statesmanship or governance. “I don’t see him as a presidential material but a businessman,” Mr. Atta-Akyea said during the broadcast.

Mr. Atta-Akyea went further to question the extent of Mr. Agyapong’s business achievements, implying that “even the businesses we are told he owns are over exaggerated.”

The NPP is scheduled to hold its presidential primaries in January 2026, where members will choose a flagbearer from a pool of aspirants including Kennedy Agyapong, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr. Osei Yaw Adutwum, and Kwabena Agyei Agyepong.
