NDC's Tanko Predicts Supreme Court Will Dismiss Kpandai Case

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is confident the Supreme Court will dismiss an application challenging the High Court’s decision regarding the Kpandai parliamentary seat.

Rashid Tanko Computer, Deputy Director of Elections and IT for the NDC, expressed this conviction during an interview on Joy FM’s Top Story, asserting the case is without merit.

“We are confident that tomorrow they will dismiss it. They have no business being at the Supreme Court. It has no basis, and we are very sure that the law will do justice by dismissing it. They [the NPP] have no case,” Mr Tanko stated emphatically.

His comments precede a scheduled Supreme Court hearing on Tuesday concerning an application filed by Matthew Nyindam, seeking to overturn the High Court’s ruling that annulled his 2024 election win in Kpandai.

Addressing concerns about proper service of court processes, Mr Tanko revealed that as of Monday, December 15, the NDC and its candidate, Daniel Wakpal, had not received official notification.

He added that he personally contacted Mr. Wakpal, who confirmed he was unaware of any such service. “I called him, and he said he is not aware and that he has not been served. So, well, let’s see what happens,” Mr Tanko explained.

Mr. Tanko further maintained that the hearing cannot proceed given that the NDC candidate has not been served.

The Supreme Court’s decision carries significant weight, potentially impacting the ongoing dispute over the Kpandai seat and the planned parliamentary rerun scheduled for December 30.
