Black Sheep Foundation Honours 255 Teachers in Christmas Initiative

The Black Sheep Foundation has launched its maiden ‘Gift a Teacher’ Initiative, extending a rare Christmas gesture of appreciation to 255 teachers across 15 public schools in Accra.

Led by Chief Executive Officer, Dela Seade, the Foundation intentionally sought to recognise and celebrate educators for their vital role in nation-building during the festive season. The initiative targeted schools within the Ledzekoukou North Circuit, encompassing all schools in the cluster, as well as Sakumono Village Basic School and Sakumono Complex.

Each teacher received a carefully curated Christmas hamper, designed to be more than just a gift, but a tangible expression of gratitude. “We wanted to say ‘we see you, we value you, and we appreciate you’,” explained Dela Seade.

The project’s success was largely attributed to the generosity of individual sponsors who embraced the vision of honouring teachers. The Black Sheep Foundation extended its thanks to Nescafé Ghana, Kivo Ghana Ltd., Amigo Cakes from JS Bakery, Boxit Africa, Bliss and Crumbs (which provided pastries for volunteers), and Kwadwo Sheldon Studios, the official media partner.

A surprise visit from popular media personality, Nana Ama McBrown, added an extra layer of joy to the occasion, bringing excitement and creating lasting memories for both teachers and volunteers.

The impact of the initiative was clearly felt by the recipients. One headmistress expressed her gratitude, saying, “God richly bless you and all the team members. The biggest surprise this year. Thank you oooo, thank you so much. Please thank all of them for us.”

Another teacher shared, “This is so massive. We are super happy. The excitement on our faces can last us for long.”

According to Dela Seade, the ‘Gift a Teacher’ Initiative is not a one-time event. “Teachers shape every profession. If we truly care about the future, then we must care about the people educating that future. This initiative is our way of saying thank you and it’s only the beginning,” she stated.

The Foundation plans to make this an annual project, with ambitions to broaden its reach and introduce additional support programmes for teachers in the coming years. They hope to inspire a new standard of community recognition for educators, moving beyond mere words to demonstrate genuine appreciation through action.

This Christmas, the Black Sheep Foundation ensured teachers were remembered, a gesture they believe marks a significant moment in acknowledging their dedication.
