Man Nearly Lynched Over Alleged Fridge Part Theft in Kasoa Walantu

A man in his late 30s is battling for his life at the Kasoa Polyclinic after a brutal assault by a mob at Kasoa Walantu Junction in the Awutu Senya East Municipality.

The incident occurred when the suspect was allegedly caught attempting to steal the motor from a refrigerator brought in for repairs.

According to the shop owner, Sylvester Awugya, his business has been plagued by a series of thefts recently. This created a tense atmosphere, and residents reacted strongly when they caught the man “red-handed,” as he put it.

“We’ve been experiencing several theft cases lately, so when we saw him trying to remove the motor, people got very angry,” Mr. Awugya told Adom News.

Police from the Kasoa Divisional Police Command swiftly intervened, rescuing the suspect from the irate crowd. He was immediately transported to the Kasoa Polyclinic for urgent medical attention, where he remains in critical condition.

Authorities have launched investigations into the matter, seeking to understand the circumstances surrounding the theft and the subsequent assault. The police are urging residents to refrain from taking the law into their own hands and to report any suspicious activity to the appropriate authorities.
