Kufour Says Unity Essential for NPP’s Future Progress

Politics

Former President John Agyekum Kufuor called on New Patriotic Party members to place unity at the heart of their agenda on Sunday.

Kufuor made the appeal during an interview on The Delay Show with Deloris Frimpong Manso, urging party faithful to set aside internal tensions and rally behind the NPP’s core values.

"Unity is key to the NPP’s future progress. We might not be friends or allies, but because we all believe in the principles and ideals of the party, it is important to unite to push the party," he said.

The former president stressed that unity is not only essential for winning the upcoming elections but also for building the credibility needed to lead the nation. He added that voters respond positively to a party that speaks with one voice.

"Ghanaians appreciate unity. We will be able to serve Ghanaians better if we are united to serve them well when we win power," Kufuor explained.

Kufuor’s comments come at a time when party cohesion remains a central issue in Ghana’s political discourse, with the NPP slated to elect its flagbearer in January 2026.

Political analysts note that a united front could strengthen the party’s chances in the 2024 general election and provide a smoother transition to the next leadership contest.
