Black Stars Face Germany in March 30 Friendly

Ghana’s Black Stars will face Germany in a high-profile international friendly on March 30, as preparations intensify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The match, scheduled to take place in Stuttgart, marks the first confirmed pre-World Cup encounter for the Ghana Football Association (GFA). Head Coach Otto Addo seeks to use the game to fine-tune his squad before the tournament kicks off on June 11 across Mexico, Canada, and the United States.

Ghana has been drawn into Group L for the World Cup qualifiers, where they will compete with England, Croatia, and Panama. Coach Addo views the Germany match as an invaluable opportunity to assess his team against world-class opposition.

“This is an amazing opportunity for us to test ourselves against one of the best teams in the world. Germany are a good side, and we can’t wait to face them in Stuttgart,” Addo stated.

Currently ranked fourth globally, Germany is preparing for their own World Cup campaign, having been placed in Group E alongside Curaçao, Ivory Coast, and Ecuador. Germany’s coach, Julian Nagelsmann, believes the match against Ghana will provide useful insight ahead of their group stage clash against Ivory Coast.

“We are very much looking forward to the clash with Otto’s team. Their strong transition play can give us a taste of what to expect in the World Cup group match against Ivory Coast,” Nagelsmann said.

Historically, the Black Stars have met Germany three times, suffering two defeats and managing one draw. This upcoming friendly presents a chance to improve that record and build momentum for the 2026 World Cup.
