Multimedia Group's Christmas Egg Market Concludes Today

Local News

The Multimedia Group’s Christmas Egg Market is set to conclude today, Saturday, December 20, with organisers anticipating another day of bustling activity at its Kokomlemle car park.

The market, a direct response to rising food costs and seasonal price hikes, has allowed consumers to purchase fresh eggs directly from poultry farmers at significantly reduced prices.

Yesterday, the first day of the market, witnessed a massive turnout as hundreds of households, bakers, and catering businesses flocked to take advantage of the affordable rates. Prices were noticeably lower compared to those at traditional markets like Makola, Agbogbloshie, and Mallam Atta.

The initiative isn’t just benefiting buyers; it’s also providing a vital platform for local farmers to clear their stock before the end of the year. Representatives from poultry farmer associations lauded the market for reducing the influence of middlemen and ensuring fairer compensation for producers.

“The response on Day 1 was overwhelming. We brought in thousands of crates, and we had to restock by midday,” remarked a lead vendor. “Saturday is the final push, and we are ready for the rush.”

The market will officially open at 8:00 AM and continue until all available eggs are sold. Organisers are urging shoppers to arrive early to avoid disappointment, given the high demand experienced yesterday.

David Max-Fugar, Head of Marketing and Sales at The Multimedia Group Limited, explained that the market reflects the company’s dedication to improving food security for Ghanaians during the festive season. “This is our way of giving back to our audience,” he stated. “We know the economy is tough, and if we can help a family have a better Christmas meal by providing affordable eggs, then our mission is accomplished.”
