Berekum Chelsea ended their three-match winless streak with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Hohoe United at the Golden City Park on Sunday afternoon.
The Blues, under pressure to deliver, secured the crucial win thanks to a 78th-minute strike from Prince Anane, lifting them out of the relegation zone.
Hohoe United came into the game buoyed by back-to-back victories, including a stunning win against Asante Kotoko, and were considered favourites. However, Chelsea demonstrated improved organisation and defensive solidity, frustrating the visitors’ attack.
Despite a tightly contested match, Chelsea’s resilience paid off as Anane’s late goal sparked jubilant scenes amongst the home supporters.
Speaking after the match, Chelsea Head Coach Samuel Boadu expressed his relief and optimism. “It was a very important win for us. The players showed great character and determination,” he stated.
The victory provides a significant boost for Chelsea as they prepare to face Dreams FC in their next league assignment. Hohoe United, on the other hand, will aim to quickly return to winning ways when they host Bibiani Gold Stars.
The Ghana Premier League is continuing to deliver exciting encounters as the season progresses.
