The Ghana Education Service has ordered Dzodze‑Penyi Senior High School headmaster Joshua Vidzro to step aside with immediate effect, following allegations of sexual misconduct involving female students in Ketu North Municipality.

The directive was released on Saturday, 6 December, under the authority of the Director‑General of the Ghana Education Service and transmitted through the Regional Directorate of Education. It forms part of an administrative process designed to enable an urgent and impartial investigation into the allegations.

According to the letter addressed to the headmaster, his temporary removal is intended to “guarantee the integrity of the investigative process and preclude any real or perceived interference”.

The GES emphasized that stepping aside is not an admission or presumption of guilt, but a procedural safeguard to ensure transparency, accountability and fairness.

Consequently, Mr Vidzro is instructed to hand over all official duties, records and property of Dzodze‑Penyi SHS to the Municipal Director of Education for Ketu North forthwith.

He is also required to vacate the school premises from Monday, 8 December, after completing the handover.

The headmaster must remain available to assist authorities with the investigation and must refrain from any direct or indirect contact with the students involved or potential witnesses.

“For the avoidance of doubt,” the statement noted, “this directive does not constitute a determination or presumption of guilt on your part, but is an administrative measure issued in furtherance of due process and institutional accountability.”

In the interim, the Municipal Director of Education for Ketu North has been tasked with assuming responsibility for the administration and management of Dzodze‑Penyi Senior High School until further notice.
