Oduro’s Goal Secures Hohoe United Win Over Asante Kotoko

Hohoe United stunned Asante Kotoko with a 1‑0 victory at Hohoe Stadium on Monday, Week 13 of the Ghana Premier League, thanks to William Oduro’s brilliant free‑kick.

The hosts announced their intent early when captain Safian Usman burst forward, driving into the box and striking a powerful shot that whistled across the face of goal after just five minutes.

Kotoko remained under pressure until the 24th minute when Oduro curled a peach of a strike from a dead‑ball outside the area, beating goalkeeper Mohammed Camara, who was caught out of position.

In the second half Kotoko rallied. Hubert Gyau led the attack, his efforts finding the side net, while Joseph Amoah tested Hohoe keeper Kweku Musah, but the visitors could not break the deadlock.

A contentious moment arose when Adams Inusah’s attempt was blocked by Solomon Adomako; loud chants claimed a handball, yet replays showed the ball striking his shoulder.

“We executed our game plan perfectly,” Coach Kofi Mensah said after the match.

The win secures Hohoe United’s second consecutive three points, lifting them to ninth place with seventeen points, while Kotoko endure a four‑match winless run and sit fifth with twenty‑one points.

“We gave it our all but missed chances,” Safian Usman added.

Looking ahead, Kotoko will host Dreams FC at Baba Yara Stadium next weekend, whereas Hohoe United travel to Golden City Park to face Berekum Chelsea.
