Aduana FC Tops League with Win Over Lions in Kpando

Sports

Aduana FC climbed to the top of the Ghana Premier League standings after securing a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Heart of Lions in Kpando on Friday.

Patrick Mensah’s goal in the 56th minute proved to be the difference, handing the Ogya Boys a crucial three points and ending Lions’ impressive unbeaten run at home.

Heart of Lions dominated the first half, creating several opportunities to take the lead. Striker Michael Ephson came closest, but his left-footed attempt rattled the side netting.

The game was a top-three clash before kickoff, with Aduana in second place and Lions in third. Mensah’s goal shifted the momentum and ultimately decided the contest.

Aduana nearly extended their lead late in the game, but goalkeeper Odartey Lamptey produced a fine save to deny Hensen Amponsa on a swift counter-attack.

The win takes Aduana FC to 27 points, surpassing their rivals at the summit. Heart of Lions remain on 23 points, potentially dropping further down the table as other matches are played this weekend.

Next up, Heart of Lions will travel to face Samartex, while Aduana FC will welcome Hearts of Oak to Dormaa.
