Court Declares George Asah Bekoe Head in Family Land Case

Local News

The Nsawam Circuit Court on Tuesday ruled that Abusuapanyin George Asah Bekoe, head of the Asare Kofi Asona Mensah family, is the sole authorised person to alienate the family lands at Odomase, Kwadwo Fosu, Warabeba and Okanta near Nsawam.

The court also restrained Samuel Adi Afari, Mary Bampoe and their assigns from alienating any portion of the said lands or conducting any further dealings without the written consent of Mr Bekoe.

Lawyer for the Nana Asare Kofi Asona Mensah family of Akropong Akwapim issued a public notice stating that all transactions relating to the alienation of the lands must be processed through the Head of Family, George Asah Bekoe, together with the principal elders of the family.

“The judgment in George Asah Bekoe v Kwasi Prince & 3 others, and the subsequent decision in George Asah Bekoe & Another v Samuel Adi Afari & Another makes it unmistakably clear that only the head of the family and the recognised elders have legal authority to deal with these properties,” the lawyer said.

The family further urged anyone who has already purchased parcels in Odomase, Kwadwo Fosu, Warabeba or Okanta without the required consent to seek validation immediately, warning that unapproved transactions will be deemed void.

Stakeholders are advised to await further directives from the court and the family elders before proceeding with any land deals in the affected areas.
