The Electoral Commission (EC) has scheduled Tuesday, December 30, 2025, for a rerun of the parliamentary election in the Kpandai Constituency.
This follows a directive from the Tamale High Court on Monday, November 24, 2025, mandating a rerun within 30 days. The court’s decision stemmed from issues arising from the original 2024 Parliamentary Election.
The Commission confirmed the date after receiving official notification from the Clerk to Parliament on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, declaring the Kpandai seat vacant. This development necessitated the swift organization of a new poll.
According to a press release issued today, only the three candidates who contested the initial 2024 election will be eligible to participate in the rerun. This restriction, the EC explained, is to ensure a direct continuation of the disputed election.
“The Commission underscores its commitment to Transparency, Fairness, and Integrity in conducting this electoral exercise,” Fred Tetteh, EC Deputy Director of Research, Monitoring and Evaluation, stated in the release. He urged the public to take note of the new election date.
The rerun is expected to bring closure to the electoral concerns in the Kpandai Constituency and allow residents to fully exercise their democratic rights. Further details regarding the logistical arrangements for the poll will be announced in due course.
