A two-bedroom self-contained apartment at Tsito–Awudome Gborkorpe in the Volta Region was completely destroyed by fire on Monday, December 8, thankfully with no injuries reported.
The Ho Municipal Fire Station received a distress call at 4:54 p.m. and swiftly dispatched a team led by Station Officer II Michael Segbedzi to the scene.
Firefighters found the building already heavily ablaze upon arrival. They immediately initiated a defensive operation, working diligently to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to other structures within the compound.
The fire was brought under control by 6:30 p.m. and fully extinguished by 6:37 p.m., according to officials.
The Ghana National Fire Service has commended its team for the rapid response, stating that it prevented a potentially larger disaster affecting the wider community. “Our quick intervention was crucial in limiting the damage,” a spokesperson indicated.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Authorities are appealing to residents to be cautious and report any fire hazards immediately.
Residents of Tsito–Awudome Gborkorpe are reeling from the incident, with many expressing gratitude for the absence of casualties. Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
