Accra witnessed a significant display of security preparedness on Thursday, December 11, 2025, as the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) and other security agencies conducted a major Show of Force exercise through the capital’s main streets.

The coordinated operation commenced from the Black Star Square and proceeded through bustling areas like Circle, Kaneshie, Weija, Kasoa, Tema, and Ashaiman, demonstrating a unified front ahead of the upcoming festive season.

Personnel from a wide range of security services participated, including the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Prisons Service, Ghana National Fire Service, the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority, and the Ghana Immigration Service.

Officials stated the exercise was designed to enhance operational readiness and serve as a deterrent to criminal activity, reassuring the public of their safety during the busy holiday period. “This drill is a routine inter-agency training activity aimed at deepening collaboration and reinforcing a strong national security posture against potential threats,” an official explained.

The Deputy Minister for Defence, Ernest Brogya Gyamfi, was present to observe the exercise, alongside the heads of the participating security agencies. His presence underscored the government’s commitment to national security.

The show of force is expected to boost public confidence and ensure a peaceful and secure environment for residents and visitors alike as the country heads into the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
