Salisu Named to UEFA Champions League Team of the Week

Sports

AS Monaco defender Mohammed Salisu has earned a spot in the UEFA Champions League Matchday 6 Team of the Week following his stellar performance against Galatasaray on Tuesday night.

The 26-year-old Ghana international was a rock at the heart of Monaco’s defence, contributing significantly to their 1-0 victory over the Turkish giants. This recognition comes on the heels of a Man of the Match award against Pafos FC a few weeks prior, highlighting his consistent form for the French club.

Salisu formed a formidable back four alongside Barcelona’s Jules Koundé, Manchester City’s O’Reilly, and Atlético Madrid’s David Hancko, as announced by cryptocom UCLTOTW on December 11, 2025.

Beyond his club duties, Salisu has been a key figure for the Black Stars, playing a crucial role in securing Ghana’s qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. His current form is a major boost for the national team as they prepare for a tough challenge in the tournament.

With the World Cup on the horizon, the technical team and fans will be hoping Salisu maintains this level of performance, providing stability and leadership to the Black Stars defence.
