The 2026 FIFA Mens World Cup: Full Schedule and How to Watch Every Match

Sports

The 2026 FIFA Mens World Cup is officially underway. The tournament, which kicked off on June 11 with co-host Mexico facing South Africa in Mexico City, features a record 104 matches spread across the United States, Mexico, and Canada over five weeks of competition. For football fans across Africa and beyond, the question is simple: how do you watch?

“Imagine, with this World Cup, a Super Bowl every single day for five weeks,” U.S. team captain Tim Ream told CBS News, capturing the sheer scale of the expanded tournament. “Its not an accident that 5 billion people will be watching.”

Broadcast Rights Split Between FOX and NBCUniversal

FOX and NBCUniversal hold the broadcasting rights for the tournament. FOX covers 78 matches played in the United States, plus the 13 each in Canada and Mexico. A record 40 matches — more than a third of the entire World Cup — will air during primetime on FOX, a significant commitment that reflects the tournaments commercial gravity.

For Spanish-language audiences, every single match will air on NBC-owned Telemundo and Universo, ensuring comprehensive bilingual coverage.

Free and Streaming Options

Viewers with a standard TV antenna or access to the FOX network through a smart TV can watch 70 matches at no cost. The remaining fixtures will air on Fox Sports 1, a cable channel. In Spanish, 92 of the 104 matches are available free on Telemundo, with the rest on Universo.

For cord-cutters, the tournament offers several streaming pathways. The opening match between Mexico and South Africa, along with the United States opener against Paraguay on June 12, streamed free on Tubi, Foxs ad-supported platform. All matches are available through FOX One and the FOX Sports app, while Peacock holds exclusive Spanish-language streaming rights. Subscription services like YouTube TV, Fubo, and Hulu + Live TV also carry the full tournament.

United States Group Stage Schedule

The United States, drawn in Group D, faces a demanding opening stretch. Their first match kicks off at 9 p.m. ET on Friday, June 12, against Paraguay at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. A second fixture follows on June 19 at 3 p.m. ET against Australia at Lumen Field in Seattle, before the group stage concludes on June 25 at 10 p.m. ET back at SoFi Stadium against Turkey.

Canada, the other North American co-host, opened their campaign in Toronto. The group stage runs through June 27, with the third-place match scheduled for July 18 and the World Cup Final on July 19.

Africas Stake in the Tournament

For African football fans, the expanded 48-team format means greater continental representation than ever before. The tournaments accessibility — with dozens of matches available free-to-air and on ad-supported streaming — removes a significant barrier that has historically limited African viewership of major FIFA events.

The Black Stars of Ghana open their campaign against Panama in Toronto, a match already generating headlines after Thomas Partey was denied a Canadian visa, ruling the midfielder out of the opener. The Ghanaian government has since sought a diplomatic review of Canadas decision, underscoring how deeply the World Cup resonates beyond the pitch.

With the tournament spanning three countries and six weeks, the 2026 World Cup is the most ambitious edition in the competitions history. Whether through free broadcast television, streaming apps, or cable subscriptions, there is no shortage of ways to follow every kick.
