The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) is offering tourists and local visitors a golden incentive this festive season – a chance to take home a piece of Ghana’s gold reserves. The initiative, a partnership with the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), was announced by GTA CEO, Marilyn Maame Efua Houadjeto.
Speaking on the JoyNews AM Show, Ms. Houadjeto explained that the promotion allows visitors to enjoy Ghana’s culture, cuisine, and entertainment while also acquiring a tangible souvenir. “Ghana Tourism Authority is having a partnership with the Gold Board, where after all the fun and memories that you can collect in Ghana, you go home with gold, a small piece of gold. So, GoldBod and Ghana Tourism are having a collaboration. Come and have fun in Ghana. Come and watch our celebrities. Come and eat our food; come and experience our people,” she said.
The promotion, running throughout December, aims to boost both domestic and international tourism, showcasing Ghana’s renowned hospitality and vibrant cultural scene. Visitors will be able to purchase gold at special promotional rates.
Ms. Houadjeto emphasized the dual benefit of the initiative, encouraging spending on local experiences while providing an opportunity for investment. “If you are spending money on food and fun, save a little for gold and go home with gold. Let the world know that you came to the Gold Coast,” she added.
The GTA has already begun rolling out a series of festive events across the country, including concerts, food festivals, and cultural showcases. This collaboration with GoldBod represents a novel approach to combining leisure, cultural immersion, and investment in a single promotional package.
