Global surfacing and wall innovation brand PHOMI has signed on as the Official Wall Cladding Partner for The Build Project, the construction and renovation television platform that is set to premiere on Joy Prime and Joy News this June.
The partnership adds one of the world’s most recognisable decorative surface brands to a show that has steadily assembled an ecosystem of industry-leading sponsors across roofing, insurance, tiles, technology and home solutions. For PHOMI, it represents an entry point into a Ghanaian construction market that is growing more sophisticated in its design expectations.
PHOMI has built its reputation on advanced mineral composite technology — a proprietary process that replicates natural textures such as stone, wood, concrete, leather and woven finishes. The products are marketed as both eco-friendly and visually striking, offering architects and homeowners the appearance of premium natural materials without the associated cost, weight or environmental footprint.
As part of the partnership, PHOMI products and expertise will feature prominently throughout the show’s episodes, with content covering modern wall finishing solutions, surface aesthetics, durability, installation techniques and contemporary design possibilities for both residential and commercial spaces.
The Build Project follows a real-life renovation journey from concept to completion, spotlighting the products, professionals, brands and decisions that shape modern construction and renovation in Ghana. The format blends education, entertainment and practical industry insights in a way designed to appeal to homeowners, developers, contractors, architects and design enthusiasts alike.
Louis Sakyiamah, better known as radio personality Lexis Bill, serves as Executive Producer. He described the PHOMI partnership as a major addition. “PHOMI represents innovation, design excellence, and the future of modern finishing solutions,” Mr. Sakyiamah said. “Their products immediately elevate spaces visually while also offering durability and versatility.”
Godwin Porda, Managing Director of PHOMI, said the show aligns with the brand’s vision. “This partnership gives us an opportunity to demonstrate how modern wall cladding can completely transform homes and commercial environments while remaining practical, durable, and aesthetically unique,” he said.
The partnership reflects a broader trend in Ghana’s construction industry: the growing influence of global brands on local design choices. A decade ago, wall cladding in Ghanaian homes meant mostly plaster and paint. Today, architects and homeowners are increasingly demanding textured finishes, composite panels and decorative surfaces that were once confined to high-end commercial projects.
The Build Project is positioning itself as a bridge between these global product innovations and the Ghanaian market, offering viewers practical demonstrations of how imported materials can be applied in local contexts. With partners already secured in roofing, tiles, insurance and services, the show is assembling the kind of sponsor ecosystem that could give it staying power beyond a single season.
Whether The Build Project delivers on its promise will depend on execution — the construction and renovation reality genre is littered with programmes that prioritise brand placement over genuine education. But the ambition is noteworthy: a homegrown Ghanaian platform that aims to rival the production values of international equivalents while addressing the specific needs and realities of building in West Africa.
