Local News

The Kade District Court has convicted and sentenced four individuals for the brutal assault of a teacher at Kade Senior High Technical School (KASTEC).

A fifth suspect, a juvenile, was processed separately, while a sixth was arrested and remanded.

The Court, presided over by David Ofori, heard the case on Tuesday, January 20, 2026.

The five suspects, Felix Darquah, Isaac Baah, Richmond Yeah, Edward Baah, and Maxwell Kwasi Antwi, were accused of brutally attacking teacher Michael Quayson.

Four adult suspects were each fined GH1,800 or sentenced to six months in prison.

They were also ordered to pay GH2,000 in compensation to the teacher. Maxwell, a juvenile, was dealt with separately under the law.

A sixth suspect, Kingsley Baah, who had initially fled the scene, was later arrested and remanded into custody for two weeks.

Speaking to Adom News, Edward Osae Asare, the Zonal Chairman for Kade (Eastern Region) of the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), expressed satisfaction with the court’s ruling.

He stated that the decision sends a strong message to students, encouraging discipline and deterring them from assaulting teachers who are enforcing it.
