Premier Tennis Club in Tema hosted its annual Farmers’ Day tennis tournament on Saturday, drawing hundreds of fans as Sakumono Tennis Club duo Richard Frimpong Ansah and Sisu Tomegah clinched the doubles title with a 7‑1 victory.
The tournament, backed by the KGL Foundation, is a highlight of the community’s Farmers’ Day celebrations, giving players a chance to honour local farmers through sport.
In the final, the Sakumono pair delivered a commanding performance, defeating the host team in straight sets to lift the championship trophy.
Dr. Stephen Babson, chairman of Sakumono Tennis Club, said the team arrived confident yet respectful, adding that their relaxed approach contributed to the success.
“This is our first time representing Sakumono Tennis Club, and we are happy to have made them proud. It was a very good game,” the champions said.
Dr. Michael Quashie, chairman of Premier Tennis Club, described the event as a meaningful way to honour farmers and pledged that next year’s edition will be even bigger.
The lively event concluded with an awards ceremony, food and music, bringing a vibrant close to this year’s Farmers’ Day celebration at the club.
