Vice President Oversees 46th Presidential Guard Change

Vice President Prof Naana Jane Opoku‑Agyemang acted as the Reviewing Officer for the 46th ceremonial Change of Guard at Jubilee House on Monday, December 8.

The quarterly ceremony marked the formal handover of presidential security duties, with the Ghana Navy’s outgoing detachment passing the reins to a fresh team from the Ghana Air Force.

It was the first occasion that Prof Opoku‑Agyemang performed the duty on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama, who is currently on an official assignment abroad.

In her capacity as chairperson of the Armed Forces Council, the Vice President underscored her role in shaping defence policy and overseeing the operations of the Ghana Armed Forces.

The colourful parade showcased the discipline and precision of servicemen and women, and featured students from Christ the King International School, An‑Nadwa Islamic School, Leicester International School, Al Hidaaya Educational Complex and St Cecilia School Complex.

Senior officials in attendance included Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, Chief of Defence Staff Brigadier General William Agyapong, Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey and Policy Advisor Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, among others.
